FAQ/Policies

What is your shipping policy?

Most shipping prices are calculated based on the size, weight, and location. Larger pieces will cost a little more. If you are interested in purchasing multiple pieces, I am happy to combine them in one box and refund any applicable shipping overage. Listed items will be shipped within 2-4 business days of purchase.

Domestic

I ship through USPS with Priority Mail. Shipping prices are calculated based on the size, weight, and location. Larger pieces will cost a little more.

International

I’m happy to provide International Shipping through my Etsy store. If you need international shipping on something in my shop or for a custom order, just let me know!

Unfortunately, due to shipping laws and restrictions with insurance, there are some countries I am unable to ship to. Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. I'm not responsible for delays due to customs.

Do you accept returns?

I do not accept returns or exchanges. Before purchasing a sculpture, please make sure you love it!

Do you take commissions?

I offer “Custom Order” options occasionally. You may choose from a list of moths and butterflies that I currently offer, or you may inquire about a different species. I do not work on customs during the winter holiday season.

When inquiring please let me know the type of moth/butterfly, the size (wingspan), and/or your budget. These orders start at $500 usd and are often for 2 or more sculptures. Custom orders are created on a first-come-first-serve basis.

I will make exceptions for educational institutions looking to create displays.

Can you create any insect?

I mainly create moths and butterflies, but I create bumblebees and the very occasional cicada. My process works best for insects with pigment and opacity to their wings, who also have fuzzy bodies!

My sculptures are based on specimens from my own collection (or education collections). If a species is very rare and difficult to gain access to, I am unable to create a sculpture of it.

If you have a specific insect in your own collection that you would like to have made, we can discuss options.

Can you create larger works and displays?

I have created large scale displays in the past and would love to create one for your museum, nature center, office, or home. I am particularly interested in creating pieces for educational settings!

The wingspans I work with currently are 24 inches and below.

Do you offer wholesale?

I do not offer wholesale.

What are your sculptures made out of?

Each sculpture is carefully handcrafted using custom designed fabric, faux fur, and wire.

How do I clean/care for my sculpture?

Whoops, accidents happen!

If a sculpture gets wet, use a clean towel to gently press and soak up any extra fluid. Do not scrub. Do not use heat. Allow to air dry.

To dust, you may use a soft bristle brush. Never go against the direction of the fur. For the wings, you can use a lint roller or a rolled piece of packing tape.

If a wing gets creased/bent, gently bend it back into a flat position. If there is creasing on the fabric, set your iron to “wool,” turn the steam setting to high, and go over the damaged spot. Keep the iron moving and steam going the whole time to avoid damaging the fabric.

Do you teach classes on your process?

I do not offer classes on my process.

How do I display my moth?

I provide a hook and nail with every moth purchase. One leg has already been bent into position for hanging centered. To hang at a life-like tilt, simple choose a different leg to hang your sculpture from! The wings may be bent at the body into "flight" or "display" position, do not try separating the wings.

Please keep your sculpture out of direct sunlight, humid rooms, or near an open heat source.

These soft-sculptures may be used as decoration or props, however, they are not toys.

Please keep your sculpture out of reach from children and pets. Small pieces could be a choking hazard.

Can these be displayed outdoors?

No. These sculptures are intended for indoor use.

Where should I print my digital download?

This is the perfect time to support your local print shop! Remember, the quality of the print is based on the quality and skill of the shop, drugstore print counters may distort color and contrast in not so favorable ways. These images look best on matte art or giclee paper!
